Let me introduce myself. Born in post-partition India in Kolkata, I spent my early life in a very urban locality of Kolkata, with wide parallel roads lined with British period Coal Gas lamp posts and roads washed everyday early morning with fire water from hydrants charged with water pumped from Ganges River. The whooshing sound of fire water sprayed on the road and the thumping sound of newspaper thrown from below landing on the balcony, were morning wake up alarms.
Being one of the younger one among handful of siblings, I was not under constant attention from my parents; no continuous monitoring and supervision. This was as matter of fact a boon to me. Although somewhat lonely I was a totally free boy. My favorite story book was “Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” and “Yearling”, all translated in Bengali In a that urban jungle I had practically no friends to play and spent time with. Also my formal schooling started from secondary school. All these together indoctrinated me in self learning, by watching the world around with inquisitiveness and getting the answers by experimentation and reading and querying.
After my graduation with Physics Major, I did Engineering in Electronics. After a short stay in Mumbai, I joined Rajasthan Atomic Power Station, Rawatbhata, a very remote corner of Rajasthan, devoid of population and a semi-arid jungle. After 20 years of stay there in close contact with nature and far away from normal facilities of of even a small town, I came back to Mumbai.
After my retirement I am continuing with my DIY passion wholeheartedly and with enhanced vigor. I became strong believer in remaining curious like a kid and constant seeking of answer to your queries and validating new found knowledge by applying in real life at the slightest opportunity and sharing the knowledge. All big words, but this website is a humble effort to that goal whatever little or insignificant effort it may be.
